Cabot District Scouts St Georges Day Parade

We all gathered at around 10:30 in the gloriously sunny Queens Square, at the heart of historic Bristol. There was a massive turn out from all the Cabot District Scout Groups. I lost count of how many individual Groups came along, but it was great to see such a lot of Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers all coming together. At around 11 o'clock the Groups lined up, and flag bearers raised their standards. The Fire Brigade band struck up a rousing tune, and we off we all set. The parade was an impressive sight as we marched from Queens Square, around the centre of Bristol, past the Council House, right up to the Cathedral. The police stopped all the traffic, and on lookers stopped their sight seeing and shopping to watch us pass. Once in the Cathedral we were quickly seated, and the service started. During the service the new Cabot District chaplain was invested, and all the children renewed their promises. The service finished with a rousing rendition of God Save the Queen, and then it was outside for a massive photo of everyone that took part. All agreed it was a huge success, and a great way to celebrate this important day, and at the same time publicise Scouting.
