During the past 3 years the two Scout Groups have supported the work of the Friendship Clinic Nepal (www.clinic-nepal.org.uk), a UK Registered Medical Charity (Registration number 1076740), supplying funding for numerous conservation, environmental and humanitarian projects.
These projects have included:
- A water, sanitation and health programme (providing clean fresh water – via the provision of shallow and deep tube wells, digging of Asian toilets and implementing a health education programme).
- Community farming (provision of live stock, cows, bees etc and providing the materials to rebuild their farms after the monsoons).
- Health education in the villages and numerous schools.
- Start up of the 1st Meghauli Scout Troop (60 boys and girls).
- Medical outreach clinics.
- The installation of Bio-gas ‘tanks’ to provide fuel for cooking.
- The raising of funds to provide a dental surgery within the Clinic.
