During the past 3 years the two Scout Groups have supported the work of the Friendship Clinic Nepal  (www.clinic-nepal.org.uk), a UK Registered Medical Charity (Registration number 1076740), supplying funding for numerous conservation, environmental and humanitarian projects.

These projects have included:

  • A water, sanitation and health programme (providing clean fresh water – via the provision of shallow and deep tube wells, digging of Asian toilets and implementing a health education programme).
  • Community farming (provision of live stock, cows, bees etc and providing the materials to rebuild their farms after the monsoons).
  • Health education in the villages and numerous schools.
  • Start up of the 1st Meghauli Scout Troop (60 boys and girls).
  • Medical outreach clinics.
  • The installation of Bio-gas ‘tanks’ to provide fuel for cooking.
  • The raising of funds to provide a dental surgery within the Clinic.
In addition to raising funds for the projects the two Groups have financed the expedition themselves without resorting to outside funding. The total cost of the expedition is £22,110.00.  This includes all travel, insurance, accommodation, food, scouting equipment (tents, sleeping bags, cooking equipment - to enable the Jungle Jamboree to take place), guides and interpreters.
